READJUSTMENT SUPPORT
The first 72 hours out of a residential treatment facility are crucial, and among the most difficult. You are leaving a structured and safe environment where old wounds were opened up and healing began. Now you are headed back to the life you left behind with all the same stresses and triggers that may have spurred on your substance abuse prior to treatment. According to the National Institute of Drug Abuse, “Science has taught us that stress, cues linked to the drug experience (such as people, places, things, and moods), and exposure to drugs are the most common triggers for relapse.”
While new coping mechanisms have been learned, they may not be solidified yet, and a relapse early on can shatter your confidence and send you into a tailspin that is difficult to recover from.
Readjustment support helps you seamlessly transition back into your life while establishing new and healthy routines. Your sober companion will help you to execute your proscribed after care plan, sweep your home for any hidden substances that may have been forgotten, locate and attend the proper meetings and help to find a suitable sponsor if one has not already been obtained.
Having the company and support of another person, who is as dedicated to your sobriety as you are, can be the difference between success and a relapse.
